YEONDOO JUNG

Lives and works in Seoul, Korea.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in Jinju, Korea in 1969, Yeondoo Jung is considered one of the most important contemporary artists working today in South Korea.  Jung received his BFA in sculpture from the Seoul National University in 1994 and went on to London where he completed his MFA in 1997 from Goldsmiths College.  Though he is best known for his photographic works, Jung also works with installation and video, particularly in his more recent works.  His works frequently focus on the close, even interchangeable, relationship between the artificial and reality, forcing viewers to consider what is distorted and what is authentic.  Jung has had several solo exhibitions and participated in a number of group exhibitions in Asia, Europe and the United States.
